The purpose of Length of Training Pilot Project (LoT) is to examine whether extending the length of family medicine residency programs from 3 to 4 years through the development of innovative training paradigms substantially impacts the quality of education and the performance of graduates as personal physicians in a high performance health care system.
Through a rigorous evaluation design, 3 and 4 – year residency programs in the LoT Pilot will contribute to the discipline’s understanding of the impact, implications, and considerations in extending the length of residency training in Family Medicine.
