Program evaluation will entail a mixed-methods case/control study of residency programs that plan to implement or have already implemented a 4-year curriculum compared with traditional 3-year programs. Annual core surveys will be administered to residents, program directors, continuity clinics and graduates, that will evaluate a variety of variables including practice characteristics, PCMH features, scholarly activity, capacity for change, ratings of curriculum and training, scope of practice, and clinical preparedness. Additional measurements include ACGME annual data, Match results, ITE/Board scores, and key informant interviews that will be conducted at regular intervals in order to collect detailed information on the structure of the programs.

Baseline data collection for the Length of Training Pilot Project began in 2013.
